Mordacious Films Ltd. (or simply Mordacious Films) is a no-budget film company made up from the remains of Starlight Pictures, founded in 2007.
The first film to bear this company title is SPAM - Forward Or Die!, with an upcoming film due 2010, The Infant Dead, and web series Sad Henry.
Inspiration
Naming the company was most of the problem. With Psych0pat as part of the team, he and Johnnyswitchblade went through numerous different names, researching them online to make sure they weren't already taken. It came down to this, says Switchblade:
- "Patrick literally went on Dictionary.com and looked for some obscure and difficult words that had a flashiness to them...we eventually came up with Mordacious Films, which I felt had a cool kind of gothic horror vibe. The word Mordacious means something like 'to bite', so I came up with a really sadistic image in my head of a vampire girl biting off some chick's nipple...don't you freaking ask me why."
On that note, Johnnyswitchblade decided to add the "Ltd." to the end, in honor of the band Public Image Limited, who had sported an "Ltd." symbol in their name, as well as LucasFilm, which sported the symbol as well.
In each video, a different logo is used, depending on the theme of the movie. It is undecided whether one singular logo should be produced.
